Product Description
Perfect for any little Western gunslinger, this double-barrel single shot shooter fires foam darts one after another in rapid succession. It's so real that it even releases the shells after each blast. It includes six safe, foam darts and it measures 28 ? long.

3 out of 5 stars Educational, but not powerful as it should be   July 20, 2010
T. Auyeung
Let's first review the pros of this dart gun:

1. Educational. Each dart fits in a jacket, then the cartridge is loaded into the magazine.
2. "Realistic" action. When you reload, the jacket of the previous cartridge is ejected (be sure not to lose it!).
3. Interesting engineering. If you like taking things apart, this gun shows how to emulate a rifle firearm using foam dart technology.

Now, on to the cons:

1. Not very powerful. A Nerf Maverick is quite a bit more powerful. I think this is mostly because of all the overhead to emulate a real rifle. I'll explain this later.

As an engineer, it is difficult not to provide an explanation why the gun is not very powerful. There are many factors contributing to the inefficiency of this gun, mostly due to making it act like a real rifle. Here is a enumeration of these factors:

1. The "jacket" system. A jacket introduces one more interface (and leak) between the dart and the compressed air source.
2. Inside a jacket, the air delivery is very restricted. I used a small bit to drill out one, but that did not help, either.
3. The bolt. The "bolt" consists of two seals and a hole on the side between them to deliver compressed air to the front. This potentially introduces two sources of leaks. First, the seals (o-rings). Secondly, air has to turn 90-degrees inside the bolt.
4. The air hose connecting the pump assembly and the chamber. First, it is a clear plastic flexible hose, which means it expands a little in the presence of compressed air. The volume of the hose is also "dead weight" in the delivery of compressed air. This lowers the actual air pressure at the chamber. Second, it introduces another turn (180 degrees) for air to go from the pump assembly to the chamber.
5. The barrel. Unlike a real air gun or firearm, a foam dart finishes its acceleration in a short distance. This means that any extra barrel length is worse than useless. It is worse than useless because a dart can touch the barrel, then lose speed and/or tumble.

In summery, this dart gun is an engineering marvel as it emulates firearm mechanisms using only foam dart technology. However, the price is paid by efficiency and available power. It is still

5 out of 5 stars Awesome blaster   June 30, 2010

This gun is pretty cool out of the box. the firing action is pretty awesome, and the range is pretty good considering the Buzz Bee ammo setup. it uses a spring loaded casing, so that restricts the air, and they're a little bit hard to keep loaded. but those are minor complaints. maybe not for serious Nerf enthusiasts, but it really is a fun gun, and with basic modifications it is fairly powerful and accurate. i replaced the spring with a stronger one, and removed a small air restriction. but be careful, if everything doesn't fit exactly, the gun will start jamming and eating darts. but just messing around in the house, it's really fun. i wish it came with two clips, maybe they'll sell them separately someday. one helpful note, my girlfriend thought it was ridiculous that i bought some dart guns, and that my roommate and i were having "wars", but even she really likes this gun, it's like an "annie oakley gun". but i think she really just looks forward to coming home and shooting me with it!

2 out of 5 stars Great gun, old model   June 9, 2010

A couple of my frinds had just bought this gun, and I loved it. It was fun to use and shot very powerfuly. I didn't hesitate to spend $30. When I got it, I knew something was different. It had a blockier shape than my friends' guns. When I shot it, the dart went to about 15 feet at the most. I tried a different type of darts with the same results. I used a different type of dart, ditto. Then it hit me after it was opened and it was too late to return it: this was the older version of the gun. Amazon.com only sells the older models. My friends got it in a store, so they had only the new guns. This gun, while fun to use had very poor range. So, I would reccomend buying a rapid fire tek 6 rifle, but do yourself a favor and get it a store so you can be sure of what you're getting. The newer model of this gun has at least twice the power.

All in all, here's what it boils down to:

Buy it here=sad kid

Buy it in a store=happy kid

DON'T BUY IT HERE!!!!!!!!!
DON'T BUY IT HERE!!!!!!!!!
DON'T BUY IT HERE!!!!!!!!!
DON'T BUY IT HERE!!!!!!!!!

5 out of 5 stars READ THIS!!!!!!   April 20, 2010

I have read a lot of the other reviews, I will be totally honest. I got the gun and I was happy, it does take a while to reload but I dont really care. It shoots very far and does hurt to get shot at with (point blank). It rarley breaks the bullets. If the bullet is bent it doesn't fire, I have been able to straighten out some of the bullets and they work, you just have to be carful. The lever is kind of hard to relode but all you have to do is prop it against your knee. IF I WERE YOU I WOULD BUY THIS GUN.
